DA MP Chris Hattingh Urges Resignation of Minister Angie Motshekga

Chris Hattingh, a Member of Parliament from the Democratic Alliance (DA), has urged Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Angie Motshekga, to resign from her position, asserting that it is time for her to step down.

Hattingh's comments followed increased scrutiny of Motshekga's leadership, with numerous individuals questioning her capability to effectively oversee the nation's defense and military affairs. The DA MP emphasized the escalating concerns regarding the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), particularly its operational difficulties and insufficient readiness to confront national security challenges.

Under Motshekga's leadership, the country's defense capabilities have been significantly undermined, according to Hattingh. He criticized her for failing to prioritize the needs of the SANDF and for her lack of accountability, which he believes has rendered the military vulnerable and unable to perform its essential functions.

Additionally, Hattingh condemned the Minister for her perceived negligence in addressing vital defense issues, which he argues has endangered South Africa's national security and the well-being of military veterans.

This demand for Motshekga's resignation comes amid mounting pressure from opposition parties and the public, who contend that the Ministry of Defence requires new leadership to effectively address the increasing challenges confronting the nation's security framework. The Minister has not yet responded to the calls for her resignation.

As discussions progress, South Africans remain divided regarding the future of Motshekga's leadership in the defense department.
