President Ramaphosa is prioritizing the ANC over the interests of South Africa - DA

The DA has criticized President Cyril Ramaphosa, claiming he prioritizes the ANC over the interests of South Africa.

This criticism arises from Ramaphosa's failure to take action against Minister in The Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, who is facing prosecution related to an illegal tender in Limpopo from her time as municipal manager.

There have been strong calls for Ramaphosa to either dismiss or suspend Ntshavheni after the Hawks confirmed they sent a case to the National Prosecuting Authority, detailing allegations of fraud and corruption against her.

These allegations involve her supposed role in a R2.5 million illegal tender while she was the municipal manager of Ba-Phalaborwa, which were also noted in the Auditor-General's findings.

DA state security spokesperson Dianne Kohler Barnard stated on Monday that she had written to Ramaphosa last week requesting prompt action against Ntshavheni, but the president has not responded.

“While the Presidency confirmed they received my letter, this is insufficient given the serious nature of the allegations against Ntshavheni. Moreover, considering his recent actions to disrupt the government, he seems to have time to spare.

“This reflects his lack of commitment to ensuring clean and accountable governance. The president’s inaction speaks volumes,” she said.

Barnard also pointed out that Ntshavheni has not addressed the criminal investigation, suggesting she either lacks a defense or is indifferent to being transparent with South Africans.

“The DA continues to call for her removal, though this seems unlikely given the president's previous inaction against his former Justice Minister.”
