A 17-year-old girl named Lethabo Khowele Sekgobela, who had been missing for a week after a disagreement with her parents about changing schools, has been found safely.

The search for Sekgobela began when her mother received information that her daughter had been seen wandering in Tzaneen. The community quickly came together to organize a search in the area. The turning point came when an elderly man, passing by Mamphakati Dam near Bolobedu, found the young girl sitting alone, visibly upset and crying. He promptly contacted the police.

When the police arrived, they confirmed her identity and took her to a local victim support center for emotional assistance.

The situation unfolded on the evening of Wednesday, January 15, 2025, around 9:30 PM, in Mawa Block 8, Bolobedu.

Reports suggest that Sekgobela had a serious argument with her parents regarding her school transfer. Distressed by the decision, she left home and was last seen wearing black shorts, a black vest, and a white hat.

While her family and the local community were relieved to have her back safe, the police continue to provide support and guidance to both the teenager and her family during this challenging time.
